Critical Issues facing Governments

Governments are supposed to care about the economic, social and environmental health of their communities, so taking a sectional interest is inappropriate.

No consultancy report cuts the mustard.  SMART'S defects are under the SWIRL NOT SMART tab, Deloittes' under ROY GREEN & BEYOND, and EY's under EY DEFECTS & DISTORTIONS

Here are the three Ports' issues that Governments should address (but add the full TLL reports):

WOLLONGONG - WOUNDED & DAZED

Federal - Doesn't care,   Botany preferred, variable attitude to Maldon-Dombarton from both sides

NSW - 2nd to Botany, secret plan to tax   Newcastle out & befuddle Kembla

Regional  - Business Chamber dudded by NSW   Chamber    Local Lack of interest from City Council

Industry  - NSW Ports ownership, interests are   muted    Negotiation crippled by State   ownership

Technology - No mention   high-voltage A/C

Scale economics - Terminal size has to be c 5 m TEU

Pricing & taxes - Too high through growth levy

Rail options - Mistake on mixing & capacity on   M-D,   underestimate passenger & coal   crises

Site - Significant potential but conflict   with cruise liners

IMT catchments - Confused re   cut-off from E Ck & Inland Rail

Consignor requirements -  Not relevant generally, cut off from Corrigan-type logic

BOTANY - BULLDOG

Federal - Feds don't   understand

NSW - Misconceptions re duplication

Regional - NSW Ports ownership, its interests are   primary

Local - MP doesn't like railing etc,  councils not aware or alert

Industry Not relevant, assume and permit too much

Negotiation  - Strong via Ms Calfas

Technology - No mention   high-voltage A/C

Scale economics - Not relevant except associated Moorebank

Pricing & taxes - Needs more re trucks     Rail options - Limited to 1.8 m teu, Christie  Enfield option, rail    duplication exposed as fallacy

Site Needs to replace trucks or be   capped, poorly managed

IMT catchments - Tied to   Moorebank, Christie Enfield option to E Ck

NEWCASTLE - GROUPTHINK BUNKER

Federal - Favours  Central Coast Lib MsP, not Ncastle ALP

NSW - Last to Botany, secret   plan for Pt K, Berejiklian serfs

Regional - Business Chamber   defuddled, industry lobbies disinterested

Leadership - insufficient to counter the Botany hegemony, resistant to outsiders

Local - Lack of interest from City Council.

Industry Tech advisor intentions   to close Pts B & K are absurd

Negotiation - Weak through poor logic   & lack of understanding of context

Technology - No mention   high-voltage A/C

Scale economics - Mayfield size marginal

Pricing & taxes - Baird tax obnoxious but marginal to  shipping economics

Rail options - Mistake on l/t by-pass unlikely,   ignore other options

Site - Significant potential

IMT catchments - Mistaken re reality of discretion, overstates catchment

Consignor requirements - Mistaken re reality of discretion

AT THE TOP, THE INDUSTRY BODIES, GREATER SYDNEY COMMISSION AND TFNSW HAVE NOT ADDED VALUE OVER THE MUDDLED DIRECTION OF POLITICAL NON-EXPERTS
